Cottage Cardigan
Our new Cottage Cardigan evokes memories of the past.
Who doesn't love the idea of escaping to a traditional thatched cottage located on the Irish coast?
The cottage was the centre of life for many in Ireland. People worked their own small plot at the back of the cottage. The garden was used to plant potatoes and seasonal veg. Chickens and other animals were kept for eggs & milk. Indoors the women prepared foods such as soda breads and stews.
Women earned a sense of freedom by developing a skill such as knitting and by selling their makes they could earn money. Working from home in this way led to the term cottage industry.
The green is bright and fresh, which is the perfect pop of colour. The pattern includes some of the recognised Aran stitches - honeycomb, cable, the tree of life.
Made in Ireland.
Ellie wears the knit oversized in the pictures - size up if you want this look.
